Description
This is a very well built, solid, contemporary cupboard with plenty of storage space, that has been modified in our workshop.
It originally started life as a TV cabinet, but after we added a tongue and groove pine back and a new shelf, and changed the door hinges, it has become a much more versatile piece of furniture. It has been given a weathered, layered paint effect in chalk paint and the doors were stencilled with a woodland design, featuring a leaping hare and butterflies. It was finished with several coats of neutral wax and some pewter effect leaf handles.
I believe the nature inspired design is suitable for any environment in the home (in fact I have used the same stencil on the furniture in my living room) and could see this being used to store anything from linens to crockery. However I do think it would make a great toy cupboard – or you could fix a rail to the top and use it to store children’s clothes in a nursery.
