And now for something completely different… (Monty Python reference for folks of a certain age) 😉 So we bought this bureau because I loved the shape, I didn’t love the finish which was a strange slightly toxic yellow, but that wasn’t a problem because I fully intended to paint it. Until I started to sand back the offending varnish that is – to reveal this gorgeous natural wood and the marquetry details in all their glory. It would have been a lot quicker to paint than carefully coax all the varnish off those curves, and I don’t even want to think about what was in the varnish! But Je ne regrette rien 😀
